The Invitation: The Nod

Following the most respectful tradition, we encourage the use of the nod and eye contact as the primary method for inviting someone to dance. This system guarantees freedom of choice for both parties and avoids awkward interruptions or situations of direct confrontation. Use the nod to ask permission to enter the dance floor as well.

Dance Floor Etiquette (The Circle)

Direction of Movement: You must always dance counterclockwise, staying in your lane and avoiding moving backward to prevent collisions with other couples. Filling the Dance Floor: At the beginning of the set, move forward until the dance floor is evenly distributed to avoid creating bottlenecks at the entrances. While dancing, avoid using elaborate figures if they encroach on other dancers' space or disrupt the flow of the circle.
Respect for the dance: Silence is essential during the set. Conversations should be reserved for the intervals between songs, or off the dance floor, so as not to break the connection with the other dancers.

Education, Cordiality, and Respect

Courtesy: At the end of the set, dancers are expected to thank each other cordially. The leader will accompany or guide their partner back to their place. Keep in mind that the follower sometimes does so without looking and may end up disoriented on the dance floor.
Hygiene and Etiquette: Attendees are asked to maintain a standard of personal hygiene and dress appropriately for the occasion, especially avoiding accessories that could cause friction or problems for other dancers.

Conviviality:
Under no circumstances will disrespectful, discriminatory,
or violent attitudes be tolerated. The milonga is a safe space for
shared enjoyment.
